Terms & Conditions
- Schedule is subject to availability. Booking is only secured upon full payment of all fees due.
- It is the booker’s responsibility to ensure that all bookings made by them are accurate.
- Bookings are non-refundable unless cancelled by the editor/mentor.
- Bookings remain valid for 12 months after the date of purchase. For mentoring packages, the first session must be used within 12 months of purchase and must fall within the first 12 months from purchase or the purchase is void. For editorial critique packages, the work to be critiqued must be sent to the editor within the 12 months from purchase or the purchase is void. This period may be extended by request but is subject to availability.
- By submitting work for critique or feedback, either as part of an editorial package or a mentoring package, you confirm that you own the copyright on the work in question. If copyright is shared by more than one author, all authors must confirm that they consent to the editorial critique before work begins. Copyright remains with the author. Copyright on the editor's report remains with the editor.
- Booking any editorial critique package allows the author to submit one or more documents relating to one single project only up to the maximum word count allowed under that package. Documents submitted may include ancillary work relating to the manuscript in question (including, but not restricted to, synopsis, cover letter, character breakdown, plot breakdown, etc) but must not include work relating to more than one project. For the purposes of these terms and conditions, "one project" is defined as a single short story, novella or novel-length work.
- Booking any 1:1 mentoring package allows the author to submit one or more documents relating to any number of projects up to the maximum word count allowed under that package. Documents submitted may include ancillary work relating to the manuscript in question (including, but not restricted to, synopsis, cover letter, character breakdown, plot breakdown, etc).
- Authors submitting work acknowledge that the editor/mentor, being a professional author, may on occasion be working on a project or projects that include/s material similar to that which the author has submitted for editorial critique. Under these circumstances the editor/mentor agrees to notify the author immediately any such similarities are identified and allow the author to terminate the editorial relationship if they so choose. The author acknowledges that any such similarities are the natural consequence of the marketplace of ideas and shall not hold the editor liable for any such similarities occuring.
- Both author and editor shall endeavour to employ best practice regarding protection of original works and shall make arrangments for demonstrating copyright if appropriate (for example by uploading work to a copyright management service).
- For editorial critique packages, the editor agrees to deliver an editorial report and annotated manuscript within one calendar month of the author's purchase of an editorial package of 20000 words or fewer. In exceptional circumstances, where this may not be possible, the editor will inform the author at the earliest possible opportunity. A refund will not be provided unless the editor is fully unable to complete the editorial package. For mentoring packages, mentoring time shall be taken at times to be mutually agreed after purchase.
- Editorial packages do not include copyediting or line editing. Grammatical inconsistencies and typos may be identified but the author should not consider this to indicate that a full proofread has occurred. The editorial package may identify unclear sentence construction, grammatical errors or misspelled words but responsibility for remedying these rests with the author.
- Mentoring packages do not include written feedback or editorial work on the writing submitted.
